Climate and Sustainability
Our Commitment to Sustainability
In line with the Department for Education’s Climate Change and Sustainability Strategy, we are developing a whole-school Sustainability Plan that reflects the Strategy’s key pillars of climate education, decarbonisation, adaptation and resilience, nature and biodiversity, and leadership and governance.
To provide clear leadership and accountability, the school has appointed a Sustainability Lead who works closely with the Headteacher, site team, and governors to coordinate and oversee sustainability actions across the school.
Climate education is embedded across the curriculum, ensuring pupils develop the knowledge, skills, and values needed to understand climate change and contribute positively to a sustainable future.
Pupil leadership is supported through our Eco Warriors, who meet at least once each half term to help lead and promote environmental initiatives.
In line with the decarbonisation pillar, we are taking practical steps to reduce our environmental impact, including recycling, reducing energy consumption, and encouraging sustainable behaviours across the school.
We also support adaptation and resilience by promoting awareness of environmental responsibility and sustainable practices across school life.
Our commitment to nature and biodiversity is demonstrated through our planned engagement in national initiatives such as Birdwatch and Walk to School Week.
Our aim is to help pupils connect with nature and understand the importance of protecting local and global ecosystems.
Our Sustainability Plan is reviewed regularly to monitor progress and identify next steps, ensuring continuous improvement through collaboration with pupils, staff, governors, and the wider school community.
