Headteacher Update Friday 20th November

Friday 20th November

Dear Parents,

I very much hope you and your families are keeping well.
Last week we unfortunately had to send our first class bubble home to self-isolate, since we had a confirmed positive case of Covid-19. The children’s parents were immediately informed, and this was then followed up with a phone call and letter. Remote learning has been set daily. Mr Barr and the classteacher have been in contact with families to ensure that children can access the learning.

It is important that if children must self-isolate that they still see weekdays as school learning days. Google classroom will be used to set the learning for the day and as a platform for children to upload their work for teachers to mark. In the next couple of weeks, we will also be introducing Google ‘meet’ where children log on in the morning to register with their teacher and their teacher can then explain the learning expectations for the day. We will also ensure that daily learning is supported with film clips that have either been made by the teacher or from one of the Department for Education recommended sites.

I am very pleased to inform you that we have been invited to join the London Mayor’s School for Success Programme 2020/2021. The school has been chosen to join the programme as a result of the excellent progress children have achieved. Well done to our children, their teachers and parents, who I know support their children’s learning.

This week we observed a 2 minute silence for Remembrance Day following special class assemblies. The year 5 and year 6 children stood out on the balcony. I was very impressed with their respectful behaviour, as we all stood in silence.

I would like to wish all our families a happy Diwali. I know it wasn’t quite the same but I hope our families enjoyed their celebrations.

As always if you have any questions, concerns or want to clarify anything I am on the school gates in the morning and in the quad at the end of the day. Other members of the Senior Leadership team are also on duty in the quad both before school and after school.

Kind regards,
Mrs Taylor-Kent
