Carnival Success

Wow...what a week! Carnival week was buzzing with life and entertainment. So many events have happened this week, with the finale being simply sublime! It was a scorcher, and we are not just talking about the weather.

All year groups brought the party in their parades. EYFS walked out to 'Waka Waka'. Year 1 marched around to 'Waving Flags'. Year 2 strutted their stuff to 'Reach for the Stars'. Year 3 led the crowd with 'Follow My Leader'. Year 4 rocked it out with 'We Will Rock You'. Year 5 slowed the tempo, and sashayed out to 'One Love'. Finally, Year 6 spiced it up with 'Spice Up Your Life'.

We had many performances on show from the start of the day. Starting with a guitar ensemble in the morning, consisting of pupils from KS2. The song they performed was - Ships in the Harbour. Mr Slatter demonstrated a solo piece to inspire our pupils called 'Drifting'.

In the afternoon sunshine, Wiktoria (4S) took to the stage in her beautiful, lemon-yellow Latin dress, to perform a Samba routine to the song - Reggaetón Lento by Little Mix. It was such a professional performance, Strictly Come Dancing here she comes!!! Here is the link to her performance 'Samba Carnival Dance'

We also had performances from Mrs Kovanthani and her group of Bollywood dancers, who danced to the song Jai Ho! by the Pussycat Dolls. The traditional costumes displayed a spectacular scene of colour and sparkle. Their performance was very polished...even after a technical hitch...true professionals! 'Bollywood Stars'

Mrs Atkinson's group brought the dancing to a close. Their performance called 'Strength and Determination' was full of patterns, moves, lifts and smiles. They danced to the songs Rise Up by Andra Day and The Greatest by Sia. They smashed it! 'Strength & Determination'

Finally, the celebration was brought to a close with our song, 'Celebrate Good Times'. The school was in full voice with pupils, staff and parents joining in the good times.

After school, there were many stalls for pupils and parents to enjoy different activities: including face paints, card games, Henna and many more. There was such a feel good vibe brought to the school, and it was amazing to see our pupils enjoy the experience. A day to remember forever!

What a week it was! A massive thank you has to go out to Mr Barr and his team (Miss Pickering, Mr Trumper, Mr Horwood, Miss MacGregor and Mrs Pindoria) for all the planning and preparation they did to bring this wonderful event to our school. We hope there will be many more to come.
