Challenge Partners Review of WPS

Published on 4th of December 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year.

At the end of last term we took part in a Challenge Partners’ Review. This involved a Lead Inspector and 3 Senior Leaders from other schools reviewing our provision at Wembley Primary School. Over three days they observed lessons, looked in books, spoke to children and interviewed senior and middle leaders.

The team agreed with our self-evaluation that we continue to be a Good School.

The full report is now available under ‘Results and Reports.’ I have included some headlines below;

‘The headteacher, acting headteacher, deputy head and assistant headteachers have built strong senior and middle leadership teams that work collaboratively and are passionate about their role in improving outcomes’

‘Leaders have successfully created a safe haven for pupils. There is a harmonious atmosphere, underpinned by a climate of calmness, good behaviour and well-being across the school’

‘Pupils’ engagement within lessons is consistently high across the school. Teachers apply a great deal of thought and energy into encouraging pupils’ interest. This is underpinned by their secure subject knowledge, careful structuring of lessons, and their understanding of their pupils. There is a clear purpose for learning across different areas of the curriculum. Teachers make lessons as meaningful as possible, which contributes significantly to pupils’ engagement’

‘Behaviour is excellent within lessons. There are high expectations throughout the school, and teachers clearly invest time in getting to know their pupils. Pupils reported that this is a school where the teachers are fair and kind, and take time to get to know them. They went on to say that teachers always check that they understand, and that this helps them to learn. They were adamant that Wembley Primary School is a safe and fun place to learn’

Thank you for your continued support.
